Building an Ecosystem that Responds to Employer Needs
Jul 16 2026 | By: Jaime Cruz
Southern Nevada's continued economic development requires a sustainable and demand-driven talent pipeline, an ecosystem that responds to employer needs. As part of her Leadership Portrait Series, Vegas Chamber member Kim Dung Ho has created the latest group portrait of leaders working together to meet that demand. The portrait includes:
Tom Burns, Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Board Member of Vegas Chamber and Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance
Chris Sewell, Director of Nevada Department of Employment Training & Rehabilitation, Board Member of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development
Matt McNair, Chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education, Board Member of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development
Stacy Klippenstein, President of College of Southern Nevada, Board Member of Workforce Connections and Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance
Jhone Ebert, Superintendent of Clark County School District, Board Member of Workforce Connections
Danielle Casey, President & CEO of Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, Board Member of Workforce Connections and Vegas Chamber
Jaime Cruz, Executive Director of Workforce Connections, Board Member of Vegas Chamber and Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance
Mary Beth Sewald, President & CEO of Vegas Chamber, Board Member of Workforce Connections and the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance
Tom Power, CEO of Sunshine Minting, Board Member of Workforce Connections and Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance
Eric Schmacker, President & CEO of SilverSummit Healthcare, Board Member of Workforce Connections
Hugh Anderson, Managing Director of High Tower Las Vegas, Board Member of Workforce Connections and Vegas Chamber
Crystal & Chad Hirschi, Owners of Hirschi Companies, Board Member of Workforce Connections
The collaboration between these leaders begins with a clear understanding of the present and future talent demands of our local industries. Along with other chambers of commerce, Vegas Chamber and Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance play a big role in making sure the voice of local employers is heard and understood. The goal is to embed the solutions as early as possible in the skill-acquisition process. In Southern Nevada, Clark County School District (CCSD) is where the talent development process begins. As the regional community college, College of Southern Nevada partners with CCSD, and other talent acquisition partners to ensure the skill-acquisition process meets the needs of employers. As the regions’ local workforce development board, Workforce Connections’ role sits at the intersection of this collaboration. This important work is supported by leaders of state agencies of workforce, higher education, and economic development.
Some bright examples of the ecosystem are: the seven regional industry sector partnerships that convene almost 400 employers in Southern Nevada; the American Job Center embedded in the Vegas Chamber; a first-in-the-nation now being replicated in other regions; and the American Job Center staff member hosted at the LVGEA.
Together, these leaders are “Building an Ecosystem that Responds to Employer Needs.”
