Championing Leadership in Affordable Housing: A Portrait of Audra Hamernik

I first reconnected with Audra Hamernik, President & CEO of Nevada HAND, during the Vegas Chamber’s DC Fly-In, where more than 300 Nevada leaders traveled to Washington to advocate for our state’s future. Audra shared with me that she was ready to update her headshot. We scheduled it right there in DC.

This week, we brought that plan to life, and created her new leadership portrait.

The “Portrait of Her Life”

The last time I photographed Audra was four years ago. That image went on to become, in her words, “the portrait of her life.” Friends and colleagues told her how much they loved it, and it became the defining image of her leadership journey at that time.

Capturing someone’s presence in a way that continues to resonate years later is the highest compliment a portrait photographer can receive. Updating it now marks new chapter in her leadership.

About Nevada HAND

Audra leads Nevada HAND, Inc., the state’s largest nonprofit developer, builder, and manager of affordable housing. Since 2019, she has guided the organization in serving more than 8,000 residents across 36 communities in Southern Nevada.

Nevada HAND’s work goes beyond building homes. They integrate supportive services in health, education, economic stability, and community engagement: helping residents thrive in safe, affordable spaces.

With new developments like Sunrise Ranch and a strong commitment to advocacy, Audra’s leadership is shaping a stronger, more resilient Nevada.

The Session Experience

After our session, Audra shared these kind words:

“Kim is an artist. She brings out the best of those whom she photographs by making us feel so comfortable. She has helped me with headshots and I could not be more happy.”

Her words reflect exactly what I strive for in every session: portraits that reveal comfort, confidence, and authenticity.

Why Leadership Portraits Matter

For leaders like Audra, a portrait is more than an image for LinkedIn or press releases. It’s a visual touchstone of legacy and vision: something that represents years of commitment to a cause and inspires trust in the communities they serve.

Creating these portraits is about honoring that responsibility and ensuring that each image carries the weight of their leadership journey.

Closing Thoughts

Leaders like Audra inspire me to continue building a portfolio of Nevada’s changemakers: portraits that reflect the power of vision, the strength of community, and the legacy of leadership.

📸 If you’re a leader looking to update your portrait, I’d be honored to create an image that tells your story.
